Enter the exam date and what’s left to cover. See the days to go, the study days among them, and the pace that gets you through it with time to revise.

Days off

Your countdown

Remember it on the day, too

Breef brings back what you write as you study, more often as your exam nears, so what you read in the first week is still there in the last.

How to use it

  1. Pick the exam date, and whether you’re counting pages, chapters or lectures.
  2. Enter how many there are in all, and how many you’ve already done.
  3. Choose the days of the week you won’t study, and how many days to keep at the end for revision.
  4. Follow the plan a week at a time. Come back and update what you’ve done: the pace for the rest adjusts.

Why a daily number helps

A big goal far away is easy to put off; a small one for today isn’t. Turning “the whole syllabus by June” into a number of pages a day makes it plain each evening whether you’re on track.

Keeping the last days for revision matters as much as covering everything: going back over what you learnt, from memory, is what makes it stay until the exam.

Questions

Does today count?

Yes: today counts as a study day (unless it’s a day off), and the exam day doesn’t. With the exam tomorrow, you have one study day: today.

What are study days?

The days from today to the exam, without the days of the week you’ve marked as off. The pace is worked out over those, less the days kept for revision.

What if I fall behind?

Update how much you’ve done and the pace is worked out again for the days left. A small gap is easier to close early, which is why the plan goes a week at a time.

Can I count something else?

Yes: pick whichever fits best and count what you like with it, such as past papers, problem sets or videos.

Do I need an account?

No. It’s free and works in your browser. Breef, free to start too, keeps what you study in notes and brings each one back before you forget it, more often as the exam nears.
