Breef vs RemNote

Breef vs RemNote

Both put notes and spaced repetition in one app. RemNote does it with flashcards you build inside your notes. Breef reviews each note as a whole, writes the quiz questions for you, and writes lectures up into notes.

Which one is for you

Choose RemNote if

  • You like turning notes into many kinds of flashcards.
  • You annotate PDFs and handwritten pages a lot.
  • You need native apps that work offline.

Choose Breef if

  • You’d rather review your notes than build cards from them.
  • You want lectures recorded and written up, on the free plan too.
  • You want something simple to start, with a map of how it all connects.

Moving from RemNote

Export your RemNote knowledge base as Markdown and import the files or a .zip of them into Breef: they arrive as notes. RemNote’s own card syntax doesn’t carry across, so rewrite the cards you want as “question :: answer” lines, or simply let Breef review each note as a whole.

Questions

Does Breef have flashcards like RemNote?

Yes, simpler ones: write “question :: answer” on a line of any note and it becomes a card, reviewed with the note and exportable to Anki.

Can I bring my notes from RemNote?

Yes. Export them as Markdown and import the files or a .zip into Breef. Rewrite the cards you want to keep as “question :: answer” lines.

Can I record lectures on the free plan?

Yes. Breef’s free plan has 2 hours of voice notes a month; Pro has 30.

Does Breef work offline?

Breef runs in the browser and needs a connection. If offline study matters most, RemNote’s apps are the better fit.
